About Us

Our
Story
Our learned Society was founded over 40 years ago by the late Dr. Paul-Henri Crevier, neurosurgeon. At that time, Dr. Crevier had already been preparing expert reports for 20 years. He convened a group of medical specialists interested in the field of medico-legal expertise for a first meeting on September 8, 1973, at the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal. It was during this meeting that the Society was born and its first officers were elected.
Due to various legislative developments, the Society has changed its name several times: Syndicat professionnel des experts médico-légaux du Québec, Société québécoise des experts en médecine, Société des médecins experts du Québec, Société des experts en évaluation médico-légale du Québec (SEMLQ), and finally, Société des évaluateurs experts en sciences de la santé du Québec (SEESSQ).
Today, the SEESSQ is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of Québec. It brings together, on a voluntary basis, professionals in medical and health sciences who work in the field of expert evaluation. Under the leadership of Dr. Georges L’Espérance, neurosurgeon, the range of specialists has expanded to include psychologists, neuropsychologists, chiropractors, and physiotherapists.
At SEESSQ, we are deeply committed to the impartial and ethical practice of health sciences expertise in Québec.
The Society includes around one hundred members: specialist and general practitioners, neuropsychologists, psychologists, chiropractors, and physiotherapists.
Our Mission
The primary objective of our Society is to promote excellence in the field of assessment and expertise within the health sciences.
To achieve this goal, the Society encourages its members to:

-
uphold the highest standards of independence, fairness, justice, and ethics in the practice of expert evaluation;
-
participate in continuing education related to their area of expertise;
-
engage in ongoing training related specifically to the practice of expert evaluation;
-
